Thorny destiny and unexpected victory of Nate Lashley

"How many times have they told the world ..." that victory comes to those who are ready for it. And especially to those who deserve it! There is a “higher power” in the world of golf, which is closely following us all and reward to the fullest according to merit.
Last week, the PGA Tour held quite an ordinary Rocket Mortgage Classic tournament. This was the first appearance of the tournament with such a name in the Tour schedule. The prize fund for the PGA Tour was quite on point - $ 7.3 million. Therefore, the range of players contained fairly well-known names.
On Monday, day before the tournament, was held the final qualification. Nate Lashley did not qualify, but was the first in the list of reservists. On Wednesday he found out that there are players who refused to participate and the place for him in the starting list was freed.
In life of Lashley was one sad episode. In 2004, his parents and his girlfriend died in a plane crash when they flew to support Nate, who played at students competition. In the short notes about Lashley, you can read that this terrible incident distanced him from golf, and he started selling real estate. This is not completely true. The tragedy occurred in 2004, and in 2005, Lashley turned into professionals. The first years of his professional career did not bring him much success. After tormenting a few years in the mini-tours, he abandoned golf and went to the realtors (here they did not lie in the notes). He was able to return to the Tour only in 2017. Getting into the grid of a Detroit tournament was very important to Nate, since any points were important for him to save the Tour card.
But then the incredible happened. Lashley began to demonstrate a very mature game from the very first round. Minus nine is the first round, minus five is the second, again minus nine in the third and minus two in the final. Total minus 25! The difference with the second place is six (!!!) kicks. We shound agree, that it's a good result for a person who got into the tournament "for replacement". But in the start list there were both Brandt Snedeker and Patrick Reed, Stewart Cink and the outstanding Slovak Rory Sabbatini.
All this tells us that random victories, and even with such a crushing edge, simply do not happen. This means that Lashley was absolutely ready for this victory. Well, the “supreme golf power” also helped him, of course. He received what he deserved!
And now, besides quite weighty $ 1,314,000, Lashley will get no worries about the Tournament player card until the end of the 2020 season. Moreover, this tournament was qualifying for the Open Championship and that means we will see Lashley this month in Ireland. He is also expected to be at the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions, THE PLAYERS Championship, Masters Tournament and PGA Championship. So, Lashley’s schedule for the next year will be tense. And we have another player, for whom it makes sense to follow closely.
